Special Education Law Committee Kickoff CLE/Meeting

posted Jul 10, 2012, 6:47 PM by Thomas Glick

In April, BAMSL president Thomas G. Glick announced the formation of a Special Education Law Committee. The goals of the committee include addressing how to help solve the educational challenges facing children with learning disabilities, including the possibility of legislative and procedural changes in Missouri.

The committee will also plan public outreach programs, with the goal of giving Missouri families who might benefit from the legal process the knowledge to do so.

The committee will initially be open to BAMSL members and non-members. The kickoff meeting onWednesday, June 15 at 4:00 p.m. at BAMSL Headquarters downtown in the Laclede Gas Building, 720 Olive Street, 29th floor, will help determine the goals and priorities of the committee. The meeting is free to attend, and includes 1.0 MO MCLE hour.

Lawrence Doreson, Legal Services of Eastern Missouri, and Lawrence J. Altman, lead attorney for the Kansas City School District, among others, have been invited to participate in a panel discussion about the challenges facing underfunded school districts dealing with special education issues.
